SHaliac Speaking Up!

Greetings, and welcome to MY OPINION page.
I certainly hope not to offend, and wish that you even enjoy some of my comments, though some people will no doubt take issue with my opinions occasionally. It is my hope that you will at least reflect on these presentations, as I have given much thought to the topics over the years.

I was raised Catholic and went to Catholic gradeschool. In my life I have served my two years in the Army, hitch-hiked approximately 20,000 miles within the US, finished college and an apprenticeship, and I don't smoke, drink, or cheat.

Several topics I could expound upon include religion, politics, relationships, finance, and the importance of education. I'm no scholar, lawyer, or authority on much except my own views. Of all things, I know myself best. I enjoy women as friends much more than guys, though I've never been married. To give a woman her right to say no is the most manly thing a fellow can do. It is a form of respect. Respect is a varied menu in life. It crosses the religious, gender, color, and generation differences we all experience daily, and much more.

Respect is the root of Knowledge, and it needs internal "self-respect" in order to become Wisdom. Know yourself. Be proud of your better qualities and acknowledge your weaknesses. None of us is perfect, but perfection should be strived for in our lives. Ever have the wish that you could do just one thing in life that was due great respect? My guess is that everyone has this feeling at least once. It is a flaw in one's logic to think it couldn't happen.

Everyone is capable of greatness. I believe many of us have an ongoing greatness which we often have no knowledge of. This is a result of not knowing one's self adequately. It is imperitive that we know ourselves well, and accept what we find as truth. No-one can hide from what they find to be their very own self.

This goes to my point of an internal "self-respect" being the root of Knowledge and Wisdom. Knowing yourself and accepting who you are is the first step towards greatness. In a sense, knowing yourself is the basis for all types of respect, because one can't show respect to others without knowing internal "self-respect".
